Hobart tourist activities.
One of the most popular destinations
in Hobart is Salamanca Place. Featuring magnificent beautiful sandstone
warehouses on the harbour front, Salamanca Place is a prime example of
Australian 1830s colonial architecture when the location was the centre of
Hobart's trade and commerce. Many of the warehouses have now been transformed into galleries,
restaurants, nightspots and shops selling everything from vegetables to
antiques. Salamanca Place is perhaps most famous for its open-air market that is
held every Saturday morning.
Another place not to miss is the
historic Battery Point. Featuring excellent examples of early colonial
architecture, including Arthur's Circle, perhaps the best preserved example of
early 1800s cottages in Australia. Also nearby in a converted Georgian style
home is Van Diemen's Land Folk Museum - well worth the visit.
If beer is your tonic, visit the Cascade Beer brewery. It is Australia's oldest brewery is still producing some of the finest beer in the country
