Arriving in Sydney as a tourist.

There are two airports in Sydney, the international and domestic airport terminals. All major international airlines service Sydney, including Qantas, Air New Zealand, JAL, British Airways, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Air China, United Airlines, Freedom Air, Garuda Indonesia, Thai Airlines and All Nippon Airways. If you are flying domestically then you can fly with VirginBlue, Jetstar or Qantas 

Travelling the 10 km into the city can be via the Sunbus. Book a special tgransfers bus from the airport to the city or from the city to the airport. A taxi to the city is approximately $25. If you are starting a journey from Sydney airport, you can also hire a car from one of the car rental companies.

Travel around Sydney is easy via a good train network, buses and via ferry on the  Harbour. Alternatively you might like to take one of the many Sydney tourist tours that provide an entertaining and informative way of seeing the cities major attractions.

Where to stay in in the city is partly dependant on what you want to do. Many Sydney hotels are in the CBD which is close to attractions such as the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay, where most ferry services around Sydney Harbour depart.

The Rocks is closer to the Harbour Bridge and is the oldest part of Sydney, with many old buildings. Further West is Darling Harbour, where there are many activities for tourists and locals alike. Many of these activities are free or low cost. Darling Harbour is also Sydney's convention hub, and many conferences are also held in hotels in and around Darling Harbour.

On the North side of Sydney Harbour are the northern suburbs of Potts Point which offer easy access to Sydney's business district by ferry or train.

Now matter if you are an international tourist or a day tripper to the capital city of NSW, a popular destination for all is Darling Harbour. Featuring dozens of activities for all ages, Darling Harbour also features many fine eateries. It is also home to Australia's largest cinema screen, Sydney Aquarium, Chinese Gardens, and the Powerhouse Museum that has brilliant exhibitions covering science, technology, decorative arts, design and Australian social history. Access to Darling Harbour is via a five to ten minute walk from Sydney’s CBD, an easy trip by train, bus, Metro Monorail and Metro Light Rail (Check all public transport timetables and fares) or a great excuse to get on the harbour and enter by water taxi, ferry, harbour cruise or jet boat.  If you prefer to drive, you’ll find conveniently located parking stations located all around the Harbour.

On the Eastern side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge is the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay. Circular Quay is the central hub of the ferry services that access most parts of Sydney Harbour, as is also where buskers and street artists can often be found entertaining the crowds. Close by is the Circular Quay railway station. From here you can do the city loop line or access other train stations to take you further a field. The Opera House is the iconic landmark along the the Bridge and attracts thousands of visitors every day.

Close to the CBD is the historic Rocks area. Fortunately saved from redevelopment in the 1970s, this area provides a unique glimpse into early Sydney.
